When the USS Enterprise escorts the science vessel Moab to the untouched world of Evum, a routine mission quickly spirals into a deadly confrontation. Captain Kirk, Dr. Carol Marcus, and the fledgling Captain Georgia Coyote find themselves entangled in a Klingon plot led by the ruthless Captain Grishik and his ally Skarn—driven by vengeance and armed with a weapon that could annihilate the Federation.
As Starfleet’s finest clash with Klingon brutality, fragile alliances are tested, new officers wrestle with doubt, and the fate of Earth itself hangs in the balance. Star Trek: Savage is a gripping tale of exploration, morality, and survival—where the line between diplomacy and war grows perilously thin, and even paradise can become a battlefield.
Mike may not have written much on this site, but this one novel is excellent.
If there’s one thing fan fiction authors do well, it’s ask the question: what if? In this case, we have a novel set in the Kelvin timeline (don’t turn off) where the characters are mostly exactly what you’d expect in the prime timeline.
All the same, the crew find themselves knee deep in it – as usual – but the story doesn’t just focus on our favourite crew. The Moab features strongly, with an interesting crew facing a fascinating crisis.
Well worth the read.

Crown Prince Bari Forelni—diplomat, warrior, and living legend—has already shaped the birth of the United Federation of Planets and stood at the side of its greatest leaders. Now, aboard the starship Enterprise, his journey collides with Captain Kirk, Spock, and McCoy in a saga of loyalty, honor, and peril.
From political intrigue and hostage crises near the Romulan Neutral Zone to brutal gladiatorial combat on Kallita, Forelni must balance his heritage as Etalyan royalty with his oath as a Starfleet officer. But when tyranny threatens to enslave an entire world, his choices will test not only his strength but the very ideals of the Federation itself.
The Calling, Part 2 is a sweeping Star Trek fan fiction epic—rich with diplomacy, action, and heart—that explores what it truly means to answer one’s calling.
