Exorcising the Past

Years before taking command of the USS Millennium, Piper was given command of the USS Exeter, a ship with a past. Instead of being given her tried and true team to command, she is thrust into a situation where she has to pull together an entirely new crew – including an XO who doesn’t think she’s fit for command.
When their pasts catch up with them on day one, they find themselves tested in unexpected ways…
This is my (Sean O’Keefe) first novel(la) in a while. I’ve been too busy looking after the site and helping others publish their own works to do any of my own writing. :-)
I had a notion to write a prequel to my Millennium series as I had mentioned in the first novel, Dawn of a New Millennium, that Piper has captained the Exeter for five years. I thought it might be great to look back at that time and how that ship and crew helped forge her into the captain she became.
I had fun creating a bit of a conflict in the senior staff that needed to be ironed out, and creating some mystery as she, Sarda, Merete and Scanner had been involved in a number of highly secret expoits in the years prior to her taking command.
I hope you all enjoy reading this as I did filling out a bit more of the history of these great characters. Thanks again Diane Carey.
