THE OLDEST ENEMIES OF THE BORG HAVE COME
LOOKING FOR JEAN LUC PICARD
*** FINAL CURTAIN ***
At the end of the 1994 season, the Star Trek TNG
franchise owners decided to shut down production of
this show. In pursuing this action they left a glaring
unresolved issue: The Borg. In spite of the ‘bloody
nose’ given to the Borg in the 2-part episode THE
BEST OF BOTH WORLDS, they were still out there,
and out of the need to address this lingering problem
the inspiration for FINAL CURTAIN began brewing in
my mind. It attempts to address where The Borg
might have come from, and what might motivate
them, while also presenting a few new problems for
the crew of the Enterprise D to work out. Set your
personal mental “wayback machine” to 1994, after the
end of the Next GenerationTV series and before the
Next Generation films, and read it from that point of
STAR TREK plots evolution. I hope you like it. –LBC-

While on temporary assignment to DS6, the station comes under attack by the Borg. During the fight Geordi and Dr Crusher discover a peculiar legacy of their encounter with Hugh….
This is a brilliant story that Alex submitted to the site shortly after its launch. It’s well written (especially for someone who told me English is their second language) and it asks the question: “How would Hugh’s re-absorbtion into the Borg Collective change them”?

When Jean-Luc Picard awakens on a Borg Cube dressed as a 1940s detective, he’s convinced he’s trapped in a bizarre dream—or a malfunctioning holodeck programme. Joined by Guinan, equally out of place in vintage attire, Picard is thrust into a mystery: two Borg drones have died under suspicious circumstances. As Picard and Guinan investigate, they uncover a trail leading to a most unlikely suspect—a partially assimilated cat, courtesy of Data’s well-meaning gift. Blending classic whodunnit intrigue with Star Trek’s signature wit and heart, this story explores individuality, redemption, and the chaos that ensues when a feline joins the collective. Will Picard solve the case before the Borg Cube succumbs to further feline mayhem?
